We understand that choosing a place to stay, whether it’s for one night or more is something that you should do with confidence. Often, we find a hotel, venue, or visitor attraction online and just hope it will meet our expectations.
At the Ben Mhor hotel, most of our guests visit on the back of personal recommendations of friends and family. For everyone else, we are delighted to provide our customer reviews page. What other people have to say about us matters!
GOOD Based on 330 reviews Michael S2025-03-12Verified Great value for your money This was my first stay at Ben Mhor, my stay was most pleasant, the staff were excellent friendly and helpful. My room was clean and warm the bed was very comfortable, I had my meals in the hotel with a reasonable choice and great value. The amount I paid for my stay was excellent value for money, I would certainly use this hotel again Andrew H2025-03-03Verified Great value, great sleep Did I get the cheapest room in Scotland for a Saturday night? £30 for the single room and £10 for the breakfast. The single was fine, situated at the front but no noise issues. Really comfy bed. The duvet was a bit thin but so be it. The ensuite was fine. It is a bit frayed at the edges and of course it's budget but a great sleep, comfortable chair, large TV, decent WiFi and freshly cooked breakfast in the morning. I will be back. Rob B2025-02-27Verified Friendly helpful staff - will be rebooking shortly Spent 3 nights here - friendly staff who were always willing to listen and help. The full breakfast is wonderful. Location central. Hotel very clean and comfortable with a bar on ground floor. Would certainly go back again. Didn't actually want to leave... Maps202431867072025-02-18Verified A wee gem Lovely stay at the Ben Mhor Hotel. The cosy room is a great size, toilet lovely and clean with a good size shower. Lovely bar at the hotel to chill at night and a great vegan breakfast to start your day. Would definitely recommend this place great value for money in a beautiful location right on the high street with lovely wee shops and lots of places to eat Julie A2025-02-18Verified Last minute booking We weren't expecting much for the price we paid, but the room was spotless. Bathroom a bit dated and towels not the best but again it exceeded our expectations. We paid for the breakfast which was cooked fresh and therefore everything piping hot when it came out. We also decided to have a bar meal Sunday night, again great value for money. Would return if in the area. Receptionist moved our room request to a lower floor as we had an elderly dog who would have struggled with the top floor. Very efficient and polite. WeLoveAlba2025-02-17Verified Great value, but be patient. The Ben Mhor is the best value hotel in Speyside. However, be aware that the owners are running the hotel themselves with few staff so you do sometimes need to be patient. It's not the Ritz and it's not the Premier Inn, but that's part of why we like it. An individual family run hotel with its own character. It's clean, tidy and has a nice atmosphere. We were in the same room as on our previous stay and it had been updated. One or two little things still needed, especially a row of coat hooks at the door, since there isn't a wardrobe in the room. Third time we've stayed and will definitely return. Domesticlou2025-02-14Verified Quirky but great value The venue: This is an absolute tardis of a place, rooms and corridors all over the place. Contrary to some reviews I've read from last year, we had no issue with cleanliness at all. That said our bedroom was definitely a bit tired - by way of old furniture, it was definitely clean though. Strangely we only had one mug and nearly ran out of toilet paper (whilst doing perfectly normal (!) toileting I might add). The bathroom was super though, modern, clean and well functioning. The bar was small and cosy and the breakfast room clean and nicely decorated. There is no lift however and a fair number of stairs. The food: Basic but great value. It's not claiming to be anything that it isn't. Between us we had the haggis bon-bons, lasagne and chunky chips and hunters chicken. All good and solid and well tasty. The full Scottish breakfast was good. The service: It's so honest that it's hard to be anything but positive. They had to nip to the co-op to buy the chicken for example. The breakfast waitress was very sweet but lacking a bit in attention to detail (we shared milk with another table as there was none forthcoming). But the chef came out to apologise for the lack of potato scones and was really helpful with directions to somewhere we needed. There is a lot of bell-ringing required - I get it, the place is enormous, there's no way they could have eyes on every area. So don't be shy to use them, they're available anywhere where you might need assistance and staff come straight away. Edward M2025-02-14Verified Great value, lovely hotel Excellent hotel for a very good price, and an excellent location for walks in the surrounding area. Would highly recommend. Bar area was great with friendly staff, it also had a games room, and breakfast / dinner were very reasonably priced. Zoe L2025-02-13Verified Great hotel in ideal location Hotel is in a great location. Staff were very friendly and dog friendly. Great coffee machine in reception can’t be beaten on price. Room was spotless as was every where else I seen. Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend. Shops on the doorstep if needed. pauline196420142025-02-10Verified Great little hotel Just back from two nights at this lovely hotel. Centrally situated on the high street with parking to the rear. Rooms comfy with good shower. Very dog friendly, took ours and it was made a fuss over by the nice staff. Food was very good quality, breakfast had a good choice and was really tasty. Snug little bar with woodburner as part of the hotel, good menu for evening meals, was exceptionally nice. Would definitely recommend this place if you're coming to this area

Paul-Jan Bijman2025-03-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Prima hotel, zeker als een 'nieuwe' kamer hebt zoals wij hadden. Behulpzaam personeel en een goede, betaalbare pub. T S2025-03-03Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Third time staying here, always perfect for our short trips, friendly and reasonably priced, all you need :) Rob Blackwood2025-02-27Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Central and good value. What makes it special is the friendly helpful staff, the cleanliness - and the wonderful freshly cooked breakfasts (will be at Weightwatchers next week ... 😁). Definitely a return visit coming up for me. It's also dog friendly as others have mentioned. Bar attached which was handy. Handy situation for town and for those of use who use public transport close to bus stops to and from Aviemore. Metal Moon2025-02-26Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Nice room, comfortable king bed and a lovely ensuite shower room. Picturesque views over rooftops and views over nearby hills. The staff are friendly and the food is tasty and priced very competitively.
