~ A VERY WARM WELCOME ~

Welcome to the Ben Mhor Hotel, to Grantown on Spey, and to the spectacular Scottish Highlands.

When you choose to stay you will experience a little bit of history. Our family owned and managed hotel first opened as a tempest hotel in 1902 and over the years has extended to what is now a quaint 24-bedroom hotel. You will receive the best of Scottish welcomes on arrival at our front desk, who are available to you 24 hours a day.

In 2019, our common areas were renovated, and we continue to make improvements and changes to our hotel, to make sure you have the best experience possible with us during your stay.

Reasonable priced stop over Stayed previously and needed a reasonably priced overnight stop on the way up to Orkney. We noticed that it appears to be going through some renovation, the bedroom looked as if it had been redecorated. Free parking behind the hotel , decent bar with a range of beers etc They do food in the bar on an evening. The room and bed was comfortable and shower was excellent. However there were no bedside lamps which meant the lighting was on or off , the window had a block of wood to keep it open. We didn't eat there except for breakfast which was £10 extra, it was ok but not a great choice of food if you didn't want a cooked breakfast.

Great shower! Tidy and functional. The photos tell the story - it's not luxury accommodation but it has everything you need and the price (for my trip at least) couldn't be beat. I was expecting things to be run down and to find stuff that was tired or not working though and that wasn't the case - all facilities were in great shape and definitely on the better end of what the photos suggested. Most importantly, the shower was really fantastic - nice and hot with great water pressure. If this is the kind of place you're looking for then that's probably a huge bonus! Staff all really helpful and incredibly communicative using their online messaging service too. (For context, I stopped in during an ultra-endurance bicycle race and was only there for about 4 hours so my experience was brief and I can't comment on the bar/restaurant or breakfast. However, it definitely over-delivered since it was the least expensive place I stayed during the whole race, including some glamping pods with no running water or bedding!)

Neat hotel. A bit outdated The hotel could use an update. Small things could be modernized, such as no control of room lighting from the bed, more charging options for telephones and so on But in essence it is a good hotel. Nice good food and clean rooms

Cosy Room, Helpful & Friendly Staff I found the Ben Mhor hotel staff welcoming and helpful. My room was a good size but still cosy and warm. The only minor downsides were the thin curtains which let in the light in the early morning and the less than clean block of wood supplied to hold the window open. The food in the bar and at breakfast was of good value and staff efficent and friendly. Well located to explore the area in a town less touristy than nearby Aviemore. Would certainly stay there again if in the area

Friendly and great value. The hotel was clean and rooms were comfortable and reasonably spacious. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was good and bar area had good atmosphere. As a bunch of golfers using this as a base in this area, we'd have no hesitation in using this hotel again.

We enjoyed our stay here. We only stayed for one night. It is an older hotel but the room was clean and well appointed. We had a decent view from our room at the top of the building. I think the age adds to the allure of the area. We were just ending a tour of Scotland. We had drinks and dinner at the bar. It was delicious. I had the Steak and Ale pie. They also serve breakfast but we didn't have time to eat befire heading out. We did get a drink of coffee and juice in the eating area before departing. We also took a walk around the town. Nothing was open as it was a bank holiday but for a few chippy shops. Be aware, the parking is behind the hotel and can be tricky to access but there is plenty of parking once you reach it. I would highly reccomend this hotel and would stay here again if I am ever lucky enough to return to Scotland.

We had one of the best pub lunches ever at the Ben Mhor Hotel today. The service was superb and the staff were very friendly and helpful. A lovely unexpected little gem of a pub and eatery.
