Our family-owned and managed property first opened as a Tempest establishment in 1902 and over the years has grown into what is now a charming 24-bedroom residence.  You will receive the best of Scottish welcomes on arrival at our front desk, who are available to you 24 hours a day.

Comfortable and good value Stayed for a couple of days golf in the area. Great value, From easy booking and good communication, to friendly staff welcome, a very enjoyable visit. Good bar, with decent selection of whisky and real ale at reasonable price. Didn't eat there apart from breakfast, but meals looked good and popular in the bar. Rotten with a capital R Only giving this two stars because the staff were friendly and welcoming. However: - Very very basic - Room was freezing (get the heating on) - Shower was tiny and very poor - Walls paper thin. Had to listen to a couple talk bollox until 0100hrs - Food took nearly 45 mins Honestly you get what you pay for and thus is a spirit of the blitz type experience. Bar / Food only review - Very good, solid place! Bar / Food only review! We went to the Ben Mhor because it looked reasonably priced and it was a good idea. The barman gave good craik in a way you (sadly) only get in Scotland. I ended up ordering some eggs benedict with a helping of chips. Everything was solid - no bells and whistles but nothing out of place either. It never went to the extraordinary but never put a foot wrong either. For the cost, its not worth it! This was booked via my work. Arrived, checked in ok and directed to my room. Room number 1, with a double bed and single bed (all that was available) The room certainly is not worth the £174 cost for 1 night, without breakfast. Basic, well worn. I appreciate its the end of tourist season and rooms may be a bit battered but some of this was not recent. Tried the tv later on and found only basic freevew. When i say basic freeview, you cant even get half the other channels available with freevew. So lets call it freeviews very poor relation. Only had bbc, ITV, channel 4 and 5, with a few others no one would really watch. Wandered to the bar, ordered a drink and enquired about food. Only then did they tell me there was no food that night due to holidays. - No food in a hotel restaurant, thats a first for me during my 14 years travelling for work. I was however told I could bring in a takeaway and eat it in the bar area. Didn't bother and took it to my room. Overall, very disappointed with this hotel. Stayed in Granton before, but elsewhere. I'll make sure I go elsewhere in future. On another note, if you are looking for some room beverages, turn left when you go out the front, wander along, cross at the traffic lights and there is a Premier store with a walk in beer cave!

good then left shocked had both breakfast and meals here as we like to support local companys everything fine (small burger issue but no problem) Then on my last night i got chicken kiev i always save best to last and i was eating my kiev which didnt have the right texture i cut it open ,it was raw in the centre . the waiter said i will speak to the chef he then said what else would you like i said maybe my money back .the owners mother who had been lovely during our stay basically came to our table (she wasnt happy)she said heres your money back no apology .i said you do realose youve just fed me raw chicken .she said aye youll be fine ive eaten it before ???? then said with a raised voice weve looked on the camera you had salad and cheese with your burger aswell refering to the first night and marched off . how can a hotel make you feel as though your in the wrong when you have raw chicken served to you . we left in the morning still in shock

Suspect opinions depend on room allocation? I’m puzzled by the profile of this hotel. Clearly some people have been very happy with their experience and their pics evidence tidy, spacious rooms. My own experience was: - top floor double fronting the street (having requested quiet room); - small room for a double; - bed comfortable but pillows awful; - room clean but en-suite less so, shower cabinet broken and head filthy; - electric shower poor; - windows didn’t fit frame properly so noise & draft intruded (wouldn’t like to be there in winter). Bed Bugs! I immediately informed the woman manager who blamed me (“they’re brought in “) They don’t hitch a ride when hiking or everyone would infect hotels! They are called bed bugs for a reason! The sheets were thread bare & pillows were so thin stacking four didn’t make a decent one. Everything is old. Hot water and trickling water pressure for the shower. Tried to make it cool but lost water completely. My lights didn’t work when I arrived. I was willing to look past all that but bed bugs and having the Audacity to blame a guest?! We are located right in the centre of our historic town, just 500 metres from the must visit Grantown Museum. If location is important to you, your search for place to stay in the Scottish Highlands may very well be over!
